After performing at Clockenflap in 2024, London-based British Hong Kong musician mui zyu returns to Hong Kong on 18 September for a dreamy, intimate evening at The Wanch. The Guardian describes mui zyu’s work as “playful pop that is both left-field and tender, melodious yet permeated by a sense of unease…” mui zyu draws inspiration from her parents’ Cantonese record collection, film scores and video game soundtracks, using her work to explore cultural displacement and the unavoidable alienation of everyday life. mui zyu has toured across multiple countries and released two albums on US label Father/Daughter Records, while actively preparing new work. On 18 September, step into mui zyu’s strange and captivating musical universe.
