Millennials, we need a way to let loose and forget our jobs, obligations, and the fact that our joints might be starting to ache. What better way to return to a time when everything was simpler than with a celebration of our iconic Y2K era? Midnight Espresso Communications has partnered with So Up Collective, Kodak Professional, and Aer to launch No Curfew Club: The Above 30 Series, dedicated to those of us who came of age during the 2000s.

The first event of the series kicks off on May 30, with music that will shift vibes and genres every hour, moving through a decade’s worth of greatest radio hits. From Usher and Ashanti’s smooth crooning to hip-hop anthems by Nelly and 50 Cent, the playlist is bound to have you singing along, getting low, and slapping your mates while screaming “that’s my jam!”, before it all culminates in a massive collective pop singalong.

Of course, the fantastic team at Aer will keep us all fed and watered with burgers and bougie takes on retro side dishes. Co-founder Nikita Matveev has also curated modernised versions of our teenaged drinks of choice, such as the Appletini, vodka Redbulls, and more.

Finally, there will be disposable Kodak cameras for guests to use throughout the night, so instead of taking Instagram Stories, you can fully submit to the Y2K throwback by snapping pictures on film. They will then be developed and shared to guests digitally at a later date — a recreation of that feeling of waiting for photos to come back or be uploaded to a shared Facebook album.

Perhaps best of all for tired millennials, the night finishes early so you’re not stifling yawns into your drink or staggering home at ungodly hours. The No Curfew Club keeps to its name, but will release you into the night gently, promising that you can be tucked up in your favourite hoodie well before midnight.

No Curfew Club: The Above 30 series will start on May 30 at Aer, running from 5pm to 9pm. Tickets are priced at $250 when purchased online, or $280 at the door, and all tickets will include one burger and a drink.
